Public Health Specialist

Public Health Specialists help improve the health of our community by facilitating meetings, building partnerships, and distributing health materials with the community.

They work on community health priorities by leading Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) groups and supporting Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) reaccreditation to ensure best practices are in place. They also facilitate the health promotion committee to connect divisions within the health department and support a more unified approach to preventing illness and disease.

They support public health nurses and public health workers in their outreach and community programs. They evaluate programs and events to ensure they are effective and meeting community needs. They also serve as representatives of the Ho-Chunk Nation when sitting in on local, regional, or state coalitions.

Public Health Specialists help promote access to resources by supporting the use of public health vending machines to increase availability of health supplies and information within the community.
