Public Health Nursing
Public Health Nurses serve our communities with compassion, respect, and a commitment to holistic well-being.
Grounded in Ho-Chunk values, we care for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health of all ages—
honoring the connection between individuals and families.
What We Do:
-
Support for Mothers and Families
Home visits, prenatal and postpartum care, newborn screenings, and parenting support to ensure strong,
healthy starts for our youngest tribal members.
-
Promote Wellness and Prevent Illness
Education and outreach focused on healthy living, chronic disease prevention, nutrition, and physical
activity—all grounded in a wellness-based approach.
-
Protect Community Health
Immunizations, communicable disease tracking, outbreak response, and partnerships that help protect
the health of our people.
-
Culturally-Aware Health Education
Sharing knowledge through health fairs, talking circles, and community events—guided by traditional
values and teachings.
-
Care and Connection at Home
For those who need additional support, we provide in-home nursing visits, health checks, and care
coordination with local providers.
Our Guiding Values:
We believe that health is more than the absence of illness—it is a balance of mind, body, spirit, and community.
Public Health Nurses listen with open hearts, build trust through relationships, and advocate for services that
reflect the unique needs of our people.
